Ha! That is a superb question! I like to think so. And I hope so. But are "green" buildings and fancy light-bulbs really enough? Sometimes I wonder if we're getting to the root of the problem, or if we're just patching up surface scratches.
I think its a start but definitely not the whole problem....if you look at someone like michael pawlyn, who's research is trying to create closed-looped systems, you get architecture that both involves the environment and conserves it. Not that his approach is the only or best way but I think it allows us to get beyond just the LEED stamp of approval or something similar. But baby steps I suppose....
