Plankton is wonderful, of course. The fact that pollution is killing it signals dire consequences for our future.

I would add that we tend to compartmentalize our environment a little too much. Degrading plankton is definitely a concern, but I think the larger issue is that we fail to realize the holistic nature of the environment and that neglect in one area will inevitably impact others.
