What should be the role of Architects in third world countries, where the people do not have awareness to consult qualified Architects while constructing their houses.  Generally the people hire unqualified people like draftsmen, or they get the plans of some houses already constructed by unfair means.

Definitely there are so many problems in the above mentioned practice.  Being qualified architects, what should be our duties/ liabilities towards our profession.

Hello mubashar, i think qualified architects' role in developing countries is a collective one i.e it has to be done in group. they need to educate the populace on the importance and advantages of hiring qualified architects, and the disadvantage of hiring crooks and unqualified ones. They( the people) also need to be educated on the value of architecture and why hiring a qualified architect at a higher price to do a quality job is better than hiring one without qualification to do a job with poor or ow quality at a lower price.
Hello Almustapha, thanks for the reply. You are the only one who replied on my post, well done. I think it will be better to wait little more, may be someone more will reply.

Then we will discuss further. The architects from developing countries must know their duties towards profession, because there are lot of responsibilities coming on the shoulders of architects.

Yeah thats a great answer...buh almustapha and mubashar.. for example in a country where every year about 100 architects are graduating and so many more that are unqualified, jobless or even with a job buh are drafting at good firms..what do u expect em to do... how to change...a country where the political + economical situation is unrest....there how can we produce the potential of architecture?????

all the archiis are getting frustrated and thats itttt....

people think that consulting an architect is expansive and their solutions are also expensive to built that's why they avoid them ..

oh well im sorry...buh then the solutions architects provide.....i dunt thnk it cums to others naturally....

this s why the creative outcums are going so down the drain....

First, the third countries have to activate the Copy Right, second architects have to denied poor design quality and educate people, developer, government agencies and organizations, those have to play a great role in make a shift for the ideology towered Planning, urban design and architecture discipline through summits and conferences. This transformation need times, keeping trying from generation to generation will defiantly make it happen. Regards.

yp gud answer sami, and zoe we need to stop seeing ourselves as third world countries, i will prefer you call it developing countries, what you you(Zoe) said is true also, every1 is frustrated , buh we have to be optimistic and work towards change.

Yes, Almustapha.

In the third world or developing countries, if you compare the ratio of qualified architects with the ongoing development, the number of architects is very low.  Mostly the un-qualified people undertake the design work and supervise.

But the architects have the proper concept to handle the problem as they have studied in the universities.  A solution provided by the qualified architect is most perfect.  Mostly the people do not pay more to the architects, because they have no concept that what the architects provide.  They consider the designing and planning as a formality, but the concept provided by the architects are more towards perfection.

The reason is the thoughts created by the architects are possible to construct, and if the architects also provide the working details with the methodology, the construction can be made exactly according to the conceived ideas.

Whereas those people who are not qualified, they cannot provide the construction details and methodology.  And in the result, the construction at site is not possible according to the conceived ideas.

Yes, there are lot of difficulties for the architects that the people do not pay what the architects deserve.  No matter, a continuous struggle by the architects is required.  Gradually the the people become educated by the architects works and become familiar with the services of architects.

This is a great responsibility comes on the shoulders of architects.  Not only the struggle made by the architects in the design and construction work, but they need to hold seminars and workshops.  They also need to write articles in the papers/ media.

For this purpose, the organizations of architects for the awareness of the people for running campaigns at the bigger scale are needed.

But one thing to remember, "Rome was not built in a day".  It takes longer time to educate people, and the result comes after years and years.  Patience is more important during this struggle, and I am sure that the hard work done by the architects will never be wasted.

Yes..of course....first of all, people need cheap...in our country the house is designed by the civil engineer....the do everything...No body know ARCHITECT AS ARCHITECT....rather architect is known as engineer...Also architecture is studied in Engineering college and have many engineering subject....

Hello Suman,  you are true, when non-architect people think that they are architects and start architectural planning/ designing, the problems start from there.

You are written that architecture is studied in Engineering College ...  Dear, the architecture requires implementation.  The basics of engineering must be studied by architects, and the designed buildings should be possible to construct.  That's why the architects must have little knowledge of engineering.  So architecture should be studied in engineering college or architectural institutes should be closely linked with engineering college.

Your views are good, but just think about my view also.

Thanks for you Views..i know i am just student of architecture and my analysis doesn't full idea...i 100% agreed with you
Architect should also wake up with the Construction detail..and should show the Difference of work by the Architect and other Non architect...................
