Vanity Fair published a survey asking experts what the best works of architecture completed since 1980. I thought the list was interesting.
- Guggenheim Museum - Frank Gehry
- Menil Collection - Renzo Piano
- Thermal Baths - Peter Zumthor
- HSBC Building - Norman Foster
- Seattle Central Library - OMA
- Mediatheque Building - Toyo Ito
- Neue Staatsgalerie - James Stirling
- Church of the Light - Tadao Ando
- Vietnam Veterans Memorial - Maya Lin
- Millau Viaduct - Norman Foster
- Jewish Museum - Daniel Libeskind
- Lloyd's Building - Richard Rogers
- Bird's Nest Stadium - Herzog & de Meuron
- CCTV Building - OMA
- Casa da Musica - OMA
- Cartier Foundation - Jean Nouvel
- BMW Welt - COOP Himmelblau
- Nelso Atkins Museum Addition - Steven Holl
- Cooper Union Building - Thomas Mayne
- Parc de la Villette - Bernard Tschumi
- Yokohama Port Terminal - FOA
- Saint Pierre Church - Le Corbusier
I think there's quite a few works missing from this list that should be there, not to mention there's not one work from either
Alvaro Siza or
Zaha Hadid. What do you think?
You can check out images of the projects at Vanity Fair's Website
