  • Course Title : "How to Measure a Building" 1 LU credit
  • Course Number: AIA1
  • Course Description: Get insider tips from David Barth, AIA, Founder of the Building Survey Corp. in New York City,  an architect with over 30 years of experience documenting and drawing existing building structures.  This course will provide an overview of how to properly measure and document a building, technology, equipment, site and worker safety and the art of producing existing conditions drawings of any building in the world.  It will focus on the average architect confronted with measuring and documenting rectilinear building structures on paper in Plan, Elevation, and Sectional Views.


  • Course Title : "Getting the Most from your As-Built Surveyor"1 LU credit
  • Course Number: AIA3
  • Course Description: Accurate documentation of existing building conditions is the first critical step to any successful renovation or restoration project.  This course will highlight in detail all aspects of field  work and production of drawings related to documenting various building structures from single family homes to high rise buildings and provide participants with practical techniques, methods and examples design to keep you safe in the field, ensure proper data collection and production of accurate deliverables for use in the design process. In addition, there will be an in depth discussion of traditional surveying methods that anyone can employ through modern high tech 3d laser scanners capable of producing high definition three dimensional models representing future trends in surveying and architectural design.  Taught by David Barth, AIA founder of the Building Survey Corp in NYC who has measured and drawn millions of square feet in thousands of buildings for hundreds of industry professionals over the past 30 years.


  • Course Title : "Measuring/Documentation for Fire Safety Plans"1 LU/HSW credit
  • Course Number: AIA3
  • This course will provide an overview of how to properly measure and document a building in order to create fire safety plans. It will focus on Emergency Action Plans and Fire Safety Plans, and how to bring institutional buildings up to code with the Fire Department. There will be an emphasis on exits, emergency lighting, fire safety plans, and egress & evacuation plans.
