A week ago, Foster + Partners have completed the first of a cluster of buildings entirely powered by solar energy at Masdar City, a sustainable urban quarter in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. Still lots of arguments; like the deadlines on ny times; “Disneyland meets Space Odyssey” or “Masdar City’s Just Another Playground For The Rich” What do you think guys?

"not a one way process that ends up in trash"... Yeah Gene-Harn, if it ends up in trash is not sustainable... we need to do everything we can to have less trash as possible.

I personally think sustainability is all about ensuring things go into a circle, not a one way process that ends up in trash. I agree with Suellen, think about every phase of the project, the best way of sustainability to zero waste would be making every zones independent, thus lesser transportation emission etc.

Remember that as designers we generally work for a client, and the use of sustainability solutios may be accord of what the client needs. Not everyone is thinkin about this solutions. We have to try to practice and make the client understand this point of view.

I agree with Tyson, but we need to remember that Sustainability involves many things, and sometimes importing a material like Gill was saying is not the best option in sustainability, cause the traveling of these materials could involve the use of non-sustainable energy and make things "worse".
We really need to think of every phase of the project.
