The concept of my being occurred on a hot and humid night overlooking the Gulf of Mexico out of nothing else to do. Over the next six or so years on trips to visit the Grandfolks, my family drove by Florida Southern College with tales of its construction and the character who designed it, followed by a promise to stop and walk around campus some day. I knew that it was something special and the seed was planted.
In fourth grade, I drew my first "As-Built" drawing for a school project using your standard 12-inch ruler to layout the single line floor plan and Mike-Feet to measure my house. When the plan came together and everything fit, I got the same elated feeling that I get today when drawings, details, and ideas work out. When I started doing well in math, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.
