Stella replied to Transparence's discussion Ancient Atchitecture and Modern Architecture
"I like both, ancient and modern, but I have to admit, ancient is somehow more dear to me. It appears to be more in tune with the nature and it has some sense of warmth, which is not always a case when it comes to the modern architecture. I love…"

"I'd say, depends on what your expectations from the program itself are and how would you like to be defined as an architect in the time to come. Different schools are offering different ways of approaching architecture,so that's why…"

I was actually thinking of a little further east, the abandoned madressa in Mardin and to really go for it, and what is arguably considered the pinacle of Iranian architecture, the complexes in Isphahan and to be honest lots of the other buildings further east. Late Ottoman a little too baroque for my taste, however some of the tiles are magnificent but the 15th and 16th century architecture in both Turkey and ıran ı think ifs really the pinacle of ısmalic architecture, I use these terms losely becaue the borders were not the borders of tody. And if you haven't already do visit Dıvrı near Sivas ı think you might like it. Lots of pics available on line.

My interest also goes as far as carpet motifs and designs, this is my latest thing trying to produce my own symbols and designs restricted by the grid principle. much easier if I had the right softweare but neverless an absorbing activity.

Have you had a look at Islamic architecture? It is my favorite, I love the use of elegant curves complimented by wonderful decorative work. I am not a Moslem nor a moslem extremist ı just find that it floats my boat much more than all this greco/roman pastiche so often used in Europe.
