While I believe the main purpose of a tower is to be tall, I must admit that building facades for these types of structures are in dire need of some imagination and creativity. What makes this facade by Reiser + Umemoto Architecture particularly interesting is that it dispenses with the vertical continuity we have come to expect frin tall buildings in lieu of a more organic protective cover. It's an architecture attending a masquerade party, since the structure itself is more conventional, but ultimately provides a much different and unique experience. On a side note, I wonder what Dubai will actually be like once all these unusual designs are completed. Quite the experiment in any case.
