21 Cake is a popular gourmet cake shop in Bejing.  The colorful design for their 450-square-meter office by People’s Architecture Office plays with layering (like a cake!) the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue to create a full spectrum of changing colors.  Selected walls, namely those in circulation areas, are made of laminated colored glass.  A skylight above a central atrium brings natural light through a second floor glass bridge as well as through the layers of colors along the staircase.  A walk through the office space changes the vantage point for the interactions between natural light, artificial light, and layers of color.
