Almeisan Tower is a solar power generator designed for Za'abeel Park in Dubai by the architecture and design firm Studied Impact. It uses 224 large heliostatic polished mirrors that track the sun’s position in the sky and then reflect a concentrated beam of light to the central collector. In the collector, a furnace containing liquid sodium heats to temperatures high enough to run a steam turbine. It claims to be able to generate enough power for the tower and the rest of the park. Almesian also has eight 5 meter wide concrete structural piers that draw hot air
from the podium down to openings 110 meters above
ground, where a strong chimney effect is created. The roof of the podium and the living walls also serve as passive cooling to counteract the desert heat.
