Scheduled for completion at the end of this year, the Arganzuela Footbridge is the largest of a series of bridges that connect the two sides of the Manzanares Park, which is divided by the Manzanares River in Madrid, Spain.  Designed by Paris-based Dominique Perrault Architecture, the bridge is composed of two interlocking metal spirals that are wrapped in a metallic ribbon.  The wooden planks that make up the “floor” of the bridge are spaced to allow sunlight to flow into the park below, and the promenade that provides shade during the day lights up the landscape at night.
