Bella Sky towers add hotel and congress facilities to the Bella Center, a much used exhibition venue in the new urban area of Ørestad. The towers are located close to the Copenhagen Airport, and so safety regulations stipulate a maximum building height of 75 meters. The Danish
architecture firm
3XN worked within this restriction to create two towers that incline away from each other. The dynamic form allows unobstructed views of the surrounding sea and meadows to be seen from all rooms in both towers. In addition, a twist at the top of one of the towers decreases friction from wind turbulence, while a twist at the bottom of the other tower clearly indicates the entrance area. The first phase of Bella Sky is scheduled to open in May 2011.
