Reminiscent of a giant modernized tumbleweed, California Roll House is a prefabricated home designed for the context of the desert.  The entire exterior surface – minus the windows – is a high grade energy efficient material that reflects the heat of the sun.  A flat surface extends like a sheet along the ground, providing space for outdoor activities that is cooler and smoother than the desert floor.  Because the main entrance is located on an inclined wall, a two-piece hydraulically powered door unfolds up and out to provide a ramp for entrance into the home.

California Roll House is a design by Violent Volumes, created by Christopher Daniel.
