For the
The Hague,
Zaha Hadid collaborated with Patrik Schumacher to create this graceful
New Dance and Music Centre. The Centre will house four major institutions in one fluid structure: the Royal Conservatory, the Netherlands Dance Theatre, the Residential Orchestra and the Centre’s Guest Programming. Hadid says of the
design that it uses "subtle volumetric gestures" to seamlessly invite the public into the heart of the building. Personally, the facade reminds me of the ebb and flow of pitch and meter within music, as well as the angles and curves of a dancer's body. Hadid says of the facade that it playfully articulates the public circulation and the inner space, in addition to offering exciting glimpses into the building's interior. The project began in 2009, and as yet there is no completion date.
