Enoki Rome Ecocity is an intriguing project by
OFL Architecture. OFL explains that the Enoki project stems from a desire to investigate the possibilities of future housing. The Enoki integrate themselves with the historical city of Rome at their base, then rise 150 stories upward, creating livable space in the air. Traditional lifts are replaced by flying shuttles that run on the outside of the Enoki, bringing inhabitants up into self-contained cities. The Enoki can accommodate up to 6,000 residents with residential, commercial, and community spaces, green areas, and cultural and sporting areas. The outer skin of the structures is made of diamond-shaped steel panels and a thermoformed glass surface.
