The Flat Tower is a new high-density typology that deviates from the traditional skyscraper, allowing the preservation of skyline and infrastructure for medium-sized cities. The medium-height dome structure covers a large area while still preserving beauty and function. The dome is perforated with cell-like skylights that provide direct sunlight to agricultural fields and interior spaces. Its large surface area is perfect for harvesting solar energy and rainwater. Community facilities are located at ground level with residential and office units in upper cells, and all connected by an automated transportation system. The Flat Tower is the work of Yoann Mescam, Paul-Eric Schirr-Bonnans, and Xavier Schirr-Bonnans, and was awarded second place in the 2011 eVolo skyscraper competition.
