Located in the extreme north of Norway, in a land of inhospitable beauty, the Havøysund Tourist Route aims to be as timeless as the landscape itself.  The design by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter is a beautiful curving concrete structure.  The objective was to magnify and slow down the experience of walking from the road to the edge of the sea.  Instead of opting for the traditional staircase-plus-ramp for dual accessibility, one long ramp thoughtfully winds from the height of the road down into the sand.  The simple and elegant facility is meant to be self-sustainable in terms of power input and waste output.
