Hollenbeck Replacement Police Station

The Hollenbeck Replacement Police Station was designed to exemplify the station's efforts to create an open, community-serving police force.  It also honors the community's tradition of artistic expression, and strengthens the neighborhood's civic center.  The 54,000 square-foot main building has a layered-glass wall at its entry that allows diffused natural light inside by day and glows like a beacon at night.  The facade also provides necessary security while maintaining a sense of openness.  The other exterior walls use a staccato rhythm of rectangular windows and insets.  Local architecture firm AC Martin earned a citation for the station in the Design Green awards by the Architectural Foundation of Los Angeles, and has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
