Iris Bay is a 170 meter high skyscraper currently under construction in the Business Bay area in Dubai, UAE. Designed by Atkins Design Studio, the 32 story tower is an egg-shaped form with two identical double curved pixelated shells. The shells are rotated and cantilevered over the four story perforated podium. The podium, in turn, sits atop a double height arcade and houses 36,000 square meters of retail and commercial space. The front elevation is comprised of several zones of angled glass, while the rear elevation is a continuous vertical curve that is punctuated by balconies. Iris Bay will incorporate both passive and active environmental features, and will add another dimension to the distinct urban environment quickly being created in the area.
