When you find a place of peace and tranquility, my initial instinct would be to leave it alone. Although this isn't an exciting prospect from an architectural point of view, I think architectural interventions can have a detrimental effect on some of these places. This project by CREUSeCARRASCO Arquitectos is a great example of how an intervention can accentuate the serenity of the existing site. It reminds me somewhat of the public pools that Siza constructed on the coast of Porto. This project isn't some big clumsy monument, it simply says come here and see. As an architect, seeing is one indispensable tool in the design process, we just occasionally need a nudge in the right direction.
