The grand and gorgeous design of the masterplan for the Marina South Gardens was created by landscape architects Grant Associates in collaboration with Wilkinson Eyre Architects. This portion of Singapore’s new Gardens by the Bay development was inspired by the form of the orchid, with the dual themes of “Plants and People” and “Plants and Planet.” The centerpiece is the cluster of Cooled Conservatories along the edge of the Bay which showcase Mediterranean, tropical montane and temperate annual plants and flowers. The iconic landmark of the Gardens are the Supertrees, which reach 25 to 50 meters high, containing solar heated water and photovoltaic collectors, rainwater harvesting devices, and venting ducts.
