This rainbow-hued proposal by Kubota & Bachmann Architects received an honorable mention in the competition to design a pop culture center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Kubota & Bachmann’s Maritime Culture & Pop Music Center revolves purely around the accessibility and fun of pop culture. It is intended to be enjoyed by all who visit, as well as a place that is filled with the singing and dancing of popular culture. Buildings that are both brightly painted and brightly lit cluster next to the beach, while a neon rainbow bridge spans the port. The Center’s webpage quotes the Rolling Stones: “She comes in colors everywhere / She combs her hair / She’s like a rainbow.”
