In the heart of Damascus in Syria will stand the Massar Children's Discovery Centre
by Henning Larsen Architects
. Inspired by the Damask rose, the center will include education, exhibition, library and administrative space. The project suggests a shell structure which will allow for playful beams of light to bounce through to the interior - reminiscent of light filtering between rose petals. In the center of the rose is a large common space wreathed by a series of stairs, ramps, and balconies. Administrative and exhibition areas are folded into the peripheral petals.
