Mensa Leonberg is a cafeteria shared by two neighboring schools in downtown Leonberg, Germany. Designed by SOMAA in collaboration with Guido Dongus, the building consists of three circular forms fused together into one undulating shape. The distinction between interior and exterior are deliberately blurred. One example of this is the asphalt surrounding the building is continued into entryway. The ceiling echoes the buildings forms with black, circular bands enclosing small aluminum cylinders. Maximizing the use of natural lighting, the southern and eastern sides of the building have an almost completely open facade and house the main dining areas. On the exterior, the rhythm of the vertical columns alternating with window panes reinforces the undulating form of the building.
