The
Murturm Nature Observation Tower pokes out just above the tree tops next to the Mur River in Austria. The tower was
designed by
terrain:loenhart&mayr and opened in March of this year. The 27 meter tall
sculptural structure follows the principles of a double helix. It has two spiraling staircases so that the journery from the ground to the top and back again is one continuous loop. The eye-catching
tower not only allows for a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape, but it also will be used for scientific monitoring. The Murturm Nature Observation Tower is part of a larger project by terrain:loenhart&mayr for the Mur Nature Preserve.
