The Murturm Nature Observation Tower
pokes out just above the tree tops next to the Mur River in Austria. The tower was designed
and opened in March of this year. The 27 meter tall sculptural structure
follows the principles of a double helix. It has two spiraling staircases so that the journery from the ground to the top and back again is one continuous loop. The eye-catching tower
not only allows for a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape, but it also will be used for scientific monitoring. The Murturm Nature Observation Tower is part of a larger project by terrain:loenhart&mayr for the Mur Nature Preserve.
