Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) has done it again.  In collaboration with TNT Nuuk, Ramboll Nuuk and Arkitekti, their design has been chosen for the new National Gallery of Greenland in the country’s capital Nuuk.  Their proposal is a structure that is physically and visually in harmony with the dramatic surrounding countryside.   The architectural design is a geometrically perfect circle that sensitively adapts to the slope of the landscape.  This will frame for visitors the view of the fjord as well as the sculpture garden in the building’s center.  The external façade of white concrete will deliberately patinate over time, visually blending with the ambient environment.
