Another stunning design for the New Taipei City Museum of Art is entitled “Inside the Cloud” by Design Initiatives. The aim of the architecture practice’s proposal was to find and then materialize the essence of art.
The site’s surrounding park has been left largely untouched, and has been incorporated into the design as a covered courtyard with a sculpture exhibit sheltered by the museum. There are glass pavilions that connect with the outdoors via views of the Da-han river, and a footbridge connects the Ying-ge train station with museum’s interior. The visitor’s museum experience is deliberated gradated: interest is piqued at the courtyard and sculpture garden, it raises in the pop-art pavilions, and then reaches its zenith on the mezzanine levels in the Contemporary Fine Arts Museum.
