The proposal by James Law Cybertecture for the New Taipei City Museum of Art aims to create an architecture that itself becomes a piece of art. The 77-meter wide structure is eleven stories high and is divided into three “zones”: the contemporary museum, the children’s museum and library, and administration. And the core concept is the representation of the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas.
The interior is a formless space with a seamless fluidity designed to create spaces that are both unique and flexible. The spaces between the bubble-like spheres in the cube are used to allow diffused natural light to enter. The façade collects rainwater, while wind turbines and photovoltaic lamps generate energy.
