The monolithic design proposal for the New Taipei City Museum by Portuguese architecture firm OODA aims to stand as a new-age landmark, and act as a symbolic voice to the world of the new spirit of Taipei City.
The design for the museum is a box within a box, wrapped in a rainwater-collecting, photovoltaic-studded façade. The Children’s Museum of Art is nestled protectively at its based, sheltered by the huge warped cube. Inside, a large ramp spirals upward, serving as one continuous gallery that wraps around the art resource center cube. Visitors enter the museum through its centralized elevator core.
