Hi Everyone,

For all sports fans and would be fans, nothing is more important than the Olympic games.   Thinking about what I could possibly be doing during the rest of the summer, I realized that in less than a month or thirteen days to be exact, the entire world, including myself, will be watching as the XXX Olympic games are hosted in London, England.

The Olympic games are the most celebrated sporting event in the world because of its demand for excellence from the competitors and from the city who will host the games. It takes a considerable amount of funding, urban planning, engineering, architectural design and public involvement for any city to host such a huge event.

In a few short weeks, thousands of people from all over the world will travel to London for a chance to be part of Olympic magic.  While, I will not be attending, I still love to watch the games and I particularly enjoy the television segments that showcase the city's architecture.

London has already proven that it is beyond ready to take on this huge demanding task and welcome the world. I believe that it has surpassed all expectations of being the first Eco-friendly and socially responsible Olympics games by continuously involving its citizens in the planning process and through its Eco-friendly designs.

  • London citizens were encouraged to plant gardens and fill window boxes with flowers to decorate the city.
  • Urban developers were encouraged to create venues and public access areas with sustainability in mind.
  • Venues were created only if one did not exist, further enhancing its commitment to recycling rather than rebuilding.

The result of these efforts is a magnificent combination of modern Eco-friendly design that enhances old English craftsmanship and Victorian architecture.

What do you think about these amazing London design features?

Welcome to London!

I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to experience this first hand, for now, I will have to settle for pictures and television. The good news is, because the venues and public areas were built with sustainability in mind, they will be part of London for many years to come.  I will visit someday soon.

Which Olympic sport do you watch most often?  We would like you to share your favourite Olympic moments with us on my Facebook page.
