One Central Park

A very interesting project by Jean Nouvel, One Central Park is an architecture / urban design project that seeks to green the Sydney urban landscape. The taller of the two towers look like modular structures. The largest terrace seems to simply be taken from the heart of the building. This project also includes an new urban park as well as 36,000 square meters of public open spaces. The integration of green elements in the units of the towers is a wonderful part of the design scheme. It gives the impression that the vegetation is in fact emanating from the building itself.

Comment by Heather Fyfe on August 4, 2010 at 8:33pm: combining the new with the classic, the classic being the use of buildings as a base for plants to grow, or the reverse, the plant being primary, using the building to grow upon, and in One Central Park, the combination of the reflections of the sky and the earth, with the vines draping sensually down, completes a "new environmental" structure that can house people, save energy, and provide food! A arquitetura não é capaz de resolver o problema humano. Esta tentativa já foi dada no mordenismo e a gente viu no que deu, pensar a cidade em cinco funções e definir o morar como máquina! Agora precisamos, como arquitetos de ouvir e ver mais que propor espaços mirabolantes, para afirmar nossa sobrevida propositora!!!!
