The Parish Church of Santa Monica at Rivas Vaciamadrid is nestled into a long, narrow plot within the residential area.  The design by Spanish firm Vicens + Ramos begins at a narrow point at its southern edge and ends in an explosion of north-facing skylights.  The skylights serve as the backdrop for the altar, while the narrowed end houses the parochial spaces.  In keeping with the sleek, modern architecture, all the sculptures and liturgical furnishings were designed and created by contemporary artists.  The Parish Church is a total of 1,405 square meters and was completed in 2008.
