I love passages. They open up a world of possibilities to the imagination. This project by Martha Schwartz Partners takes me someplace I haven't been for a while. This is mainly because architects are obsessed with creating a destination. There's nothing wrong with this of course, but I often wonder if architecture isn't better suited as a vehicle. The point of interest in this project is every space is not a stopping point, but rather an unfolding of a limitless number of avenues. This places the architecture in the context of an evolving journey rather than a single programmed event. It's something that engages the mind and offers many interesting interpretations, much like our everyday lives. Enjoy.
