Playground Installation in Drejens

I know I’ve already blogged about David Garcia Studio this week, but when I saw this beautiful playground, my “inner child” fell in love.  And what better way to begin the last weekend in July than with a reminder of playing outside on warm summer days?

This playground installation in Drejens, Denmark opened in September 2009 near a newly built kindergarten.  Its six elements shift in scale and direction, and vary spatial qualities between intimate and open.  The simple compositions allow for open interpretations of playful use, which is perfect for the creative needs of children – as anyone knows who has given a child a fancy toy, only to watch them play with the box it came in.

The playground was created in collaboration with artist Pernille Worsøe and designer Martin Larsen, and manufactured by ship builders Årøsund Bådværft.
