Prefabricated Nature

I have become more and more interested in prefabricated architecture over the years. I realize that this can be a boring subject to some, but I think there are broad and interesting implications that surround the subject. This house by MYCC was built in three months, but assembled on site in three days. On a practical level, you consider the cost and headache saved in having such a controlled environment. On another level, you consider the freedom in design that environment provides. While I'm not holding this project up as the ultimate in prefabrication possibilities, I am encouraged that this idea has taken root with good designers because it will enable them to do more as resources become more scarce.

Prefab construction is very interesting and certainly has many possibilities. Unfortunately, pre-fab highrise buildings were a rage in the UK in the 70s, but were not adopted on a larger scale coz of safety concerns. But the concept is very interesting indeed.

The use of the light and shade is visually pleasing, and being able to construct something in 3 dys makes putting up housing quickly available. If we begin to look at the amount of natural disasters that are wiping out housing around the world, quick implementation of new lodging ,made out of pre-fab materials is becoming a necessity. www.foxfireglass.com
