Shopping Pillow Terraces

In the heart of Ljubljana, the capitol of Slovenia, the Shopping Pillow Terraces are scheduled for completion in 2011. Designed by OFIS Arhitekti, the mixed-use Terraces are enclosed with a "green fence pillow" of layered metal mesh implanted with greenery. The Terraces, then, appear silver in the fall and winter and green or even flower-covered in the spring and summer.

With the street and the park are on different levels, the buidling has essentially two ground floors connected by a passage. Of its seven floors, the lower four contain boutique shops and cafes connected to a mall. The top three floors are apartment residences with beautiful views of the old city and its castle.
