Slipped into a 7 x 50 meter site, the Slit House challenges the traditional notion of large glass-filled windows.  A 105 meter wall wraps around the site, slashed with sixty 140 mm wide slits.  The architecture by Eastern Design Office creates beautiful patterns on light inside the home that change according to both the time of day and the time of year.

The Slit House is home to an 80 year-old woman in an old Japanese city.  Its unique design affords her both ample light, and reasonable privacy in the tight neighborhood setting.
