Space Technologies Cultural Center (KSEVT)

The simple and other-worldly architectural design for the Noordung Space Technologies Center, or The Cultural Center of European Space Technologies (KSEVT), is drawn from the schematics for the habitation wheel of the first geostationary space station, as described in the 1929 book by Herman Potočnik Noordung.   The structure is a result of the collaboration of four architecture firms: Bevk Perovic arhitekti, Dekleva Gregoric arhitekti, OFIS arhitekti and Sadar Vuga arhitekti KSEVT replaces the previously existing multifunctional arts center that stood in Vitanje, Slovenia between the mainroad and a stream.  The design is of two cylinders, stacked at angles to each other, containing a circular hall, an auditorium, office areas, and a library.  The exterior consists of monotone reinforced concrete, with the interior of self-compacting concrete.
