The Cube is a compact mobile unit designed around the principles of Feng Shui that contains an office, bedroom, and meditation space.   Liu Ming, a Feng Shui expert, needed a more practical and private living area in his 1,100-square-foot apartment, yet required vast open space for his growing Feng Shui classes.  Architecture, design, and feng shui firm Space Flavor created the Cube as a solution to those competing needs.

The 8-foot-wide Cube consists of Ash plywood, which has unique grain patterns that resemble Chinese ink landscape paintings, with translucent roller shades, a shoji screen and frosted acrylic panels.  The openings to the study and the bed are placed at opposite corners to create a sense of movement, emulating the flow of Yin and Yang.  The Cube sits on casters that allow Ming to orient the Cube toward auspicious directions based on the Chinese lunar calendar.  The components were pre-fabricated to fit through a standard 3-foot-wide door, and then assembled on site within 48 hours.
