The distinctive Villa Nurbs sits in the coastal town of Empuriabrava at the Costa Brava in Spain.  This private residence was developed by Spanish architect Enric Ruiz-Geli, in collaboration with artist Frederic Amat, and ceramist Toni Cumella.  A mixture of plastics and ceramics optimize the surface and structure, regulating the home’s internal temperature.  Wavelike ceramic plates from digitally cut moulds cover the home’s north side, protecting against strong solar radiation.  And the energy-saving roof consists of inflatable plastic bubbles that resemble insect eyes from above.
