Designed by Robert Harvey Oshatz the Wilkinson Residence was designed in 1997 and completed in 2004 for a client in Portland, Oregon. The 5,162 square foot home is situated on a steeply sloping lot, which allowed the main floor of the home to be about level with the forest's canopy, truly giving the feel of being in a tree house. In addition, the client is a music lover, and wanted the lines and shapes of the home to echo the graceful flow of music. Oshatz says that one cannot accurately grasp the house through the lens of a camera, but that its complexities and connections can only be fully understood by physically moving through the structure.
