I just love this gorgeous design! Xiamen Museum in China is designed by architectural firm MAD to sit on an island in the middle of a reservoir in the center of the Xiamen. On the ground, the sculpted public space will include amphitheaters, sports fields, and gather places. Five tall, tree-trunk-like pillars will rise from the landscape to give access to the museum above. The museum itself includes exhibition spaces, offices, cafes and restaurants, and the museum's roof will be landscaped to reference the surrounding environment. Publicly accessible lakes and wetlands will float high above the ground, and solar panels will also be squeezed in to harness natural energy. Xiamen Museum will not only offer lovely vistas of the city, but will also be covered with reflective material to mirror the surrounding environment.
